2 Stylists Had Coronavirus, But Wore Masks. 139 Clients Didn’t Get Sick.
Two hair stylists at a salon in Springfield, Missouri, got sick with coronavirus in May.
Both continued working with clients for about a week after they started feeling symptoms.
In total, they came into close contact with 139 clients.
None got sick.
The masks that both stylists and clients were required to wear probably prevented a massive outbreak, according to a new study of the salon incident by the CDC.
“This really shows the power of face coverings, especially in indoor settings,” said Nadia Abuelezam, an infectious disease epidemiologist at Boston College who wasn’t involved in the study.
